Lip Neutralization
Balancing dark, uneven or bluish lip tone — gently.
Melanin-rich, patchy or bluish lip tone is common, completely normal, and correctable. Neutralization builds a balanced base before soft colour is ever layered on top.

Many people are born with naturally darker, uneven or two-toned lips, and it has nothing to do with any habit or health issue — it is simply how melanin distributes in that tissue. Others develop dark or bluish patches over time from sun exposure, smoking history, or ageing. Whatever the cause, it can be corrected with a colour-correction layer applied before final blush pigment.
Neutralization uses a corrective pigment chosen specifically to counteract the undertone present in your lips — warm corrections for cool or bluish tones, and calibrated coverage for darker or patchy areas — so the final healed result reads as an even, natural, skin-true colour rather than looking muddy or grey.
This is not a separate service billed on its own. Neutralization is performed as part of the full lip blush appointment, exactly as described on the lip blush page, and the price you see there is the price you pay — $500 for the full session, $350 for the retouch. If your consultation reveals unusually dense pigment or extensive prior work, we'll talk honestly about whether an additional session is the better path for you, and that will always be confirmed with you directly rather than assumed.
Because every lip is different, results are discussed and calibrated at your free 15-minute video consult, where we can look closely at your natural tone, any prior tattoo work, and set expectations for how many layers your lips are likely to need to reach a soft, even finish.
If you're also dealing with previous permanent makeup elsewhere that has faded strangely or shifted colour, our correction work covers that too — see the lip blush FAQ below and our broader PMU correction page for more on working with prior tattooing.

How neutralization works
- 01
Free video consult
We look at your natural lip tone together — melanin-rich, bluish, patchy or uneven — and talk through what a balanced, neutral base will look like before any colour goes on top.
- 02
Colour mapping
Correcting pigment is chosen to counteract the specific undertone in your lips, whether that's cool, dark or two-toned, so it reads as skin-toned rather than grey or ashy once healed.
- 03
The appointment
Neutralization is layered in during your lip blush session with topical numbing throughout — it is not a separate visit or a separate charge, just an extra layer of care within the same 90 minutes.
- 04
Healing & retouch
The corrected base settles over four to six weeks, and your retouch fine-tunes both the neutralization and the finished blush shade together.
